Lifestyle PR is a specialised area of public relations that focuses on promoting brands and products within the lifestyle sector. It usually involves creating captivating narratives and distributing them to various media outlets to improve brand awareness and customer involvement. Lifestyle PR seeks to seamlessly integrate brands into the everyday lives of consumers, positioning them as essential elements of a desired lifestyle.
In this article, we’ll cover the objectives, types, challenges, and case studies surrounding this type of PR. Let’s dive in.
Objectives of Lifestyle PR
Lifestyle PR primarily aims to:
- Enhance Brand Image: By aligning products with desired lifestyle values, brands can enhance their image and appeal to their target audience, positioning themselves as leaders in their industry.
- Influence Consumer Behaviour: Lifestyle PR aims to influence trends and consumer behaviour by presenting products as must-have things inside particular lifestyle niches.
- Drive Sales: By engaging potential consumers through strategic media placements and partnerships, lifestyle PR can directly influence product sales in an organic and relevant way.
Types of Lifestyle PR
There are multiple kinds of lifestyle PR, each aimed at addressing different aspects of consumer lifestyles:
- Fashion PR: Fashion PR focuses on promoting apparel and accessories through fashion shows, media partnerships, and influencer collaborations. It aims to create buzz around designers and brands in the fashion industry.
- Travel and Hospitality PR: Through carefully chosen content and relationships with travel influencers and magazines, travel and hospitality PR PR focuses on travel destinations, hotels, and travel experiences.
- Health and Wellness PR: Often working with health professionals and wellness influencers to reach target audiences, health and wellness PR creates exposure for products and services connected to physical and mental well-being.
- Food and Beverage PR: Engaging food critics, chefs, and culinary bloggers, food and beverage PR promotes restaurants, food products, and dining experiences. It seeks to attract attention and generate excitement around the culinary world.
Challenges of Lifestyle PR
Professionals in lifestyle PR must overcome various difficulties. Let’s take a closer look at what they are.
Maintaining Knowledge of Trends
The social media and lifestyle industry is trend-driven. To ensure their tactics are relevant and effective, PR experts must keep ahead of developing trends and guarantee that their clients remain competitive and top-of-mind for consumers.
Solution: Stay informed by monitoring industry news, attending events, and using analytics tools. Networking with industry insiders and leveraging social listening can provide valuable insights. By tailoring strategies to emerging trends, professionals can help clients stay competitive and relevant.
Competing in a Saturated Market
It is quite difficult to stand out in the lifestyle market given how saturated it is and how many companies are vying for customers. To grab consumer interest and set themselves apart from rivals, PR initiatives have to be innovative and unique.
Solution: Focus on storytelling and brand authenticity. Crafting personalised, emotional stories can create a distinct identity. Highlighting unique selling points and exploring niche markets can help stand out. Partnering with influencers and using creative formats can generate buzz and build stronger connections with consumers.
Tackling Social Media Complexities
Managing online reputations, knowing platform algorithms, and producing interesting social media calls for knowledge in navigating the always-shifting digital terrain.
Solution: Stay informed about platform updates and algorithm changes. Building adaptable social media strategies is essential. Combining organic content, paid campaigns, and user-generated content can improve engagement. Using analytics tools helps track performance and adjust strategies for maximum impact.
Spotlight on Lifestyle PR Excellence: Pitch Case Studies
Here are our three of our favourite Pitch case studies that exemplify lifestyle PR done right:
Beats by Dre x Kim Kardashian
In 2022, we had the exciting opportunity to help our client, Beats by Dre, launch their newest collaboration with the one and only Kim Kardashian. This partnership reimagined the iconic Beats Fit Pro headphones in Kim’s signature neutral tones, bringing a fresh, stylish twist to a classic product.
The look? Stunning. The coverage? Even better.
The PR team was buzzing with pride for this one, and it’s easy to see why. The campaign delivered incredible results:
- 47 pieces of coverage across top-tier media outlets.
- 2.02M estimated views, amplifying the campaign’s impact.
- 1.35B audience reach, bringing Beats x Kim to a global stage.
From exclusive press placements to influencer buzz, this collaboration truly captured the attention of the lifestyle and tech world. It’s safe to say Beats and Kim have set a new standard for high-profile product launches. We’re so proud to have played a role in making this dream collaboration come to life.
Les Mills Live Berlin
We had the incredible opportunity to help bring Les Mills Live Berlin to life, welcoming over 2,000 guests to Kraftwerk for an electrifying weekend of group training, set to serious nightclub energy. It was an unforgettable fusion of fitness and fun.
In October 2024, we hosted 40 media and creators from both the UK and Germany, giving them a front-row seat to experience Les Mills’ newest release, BODYPUMP, along with other exciting classes like Pilates, DANCE, and Shapes.
But it wasn’t just about the workouts. We made sure our guests had an experience they’d never forget: they had the chance to personalise their gear at the AdidasBerlin station with exclusive Adidas kit customisation, making them feel part of the Les Mills movement. Recovery and relaxation were top of mind too, with Hyperice helping attendees recover and recharge after intense workouts, ensuring they were ready to take on the next session. And to top it off, we took care of their post-workout glow with a VIP beauty station, making sure our guests not only felt great but looked great too.
The buzz didn’t stop there:
- 216 social media posts captured the excitement across platforms, helping to amplify the experience.
- The event also reached an impressive 15.4 million estimated people.
It was an unforgettable weekend, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue the momentum and start planning for the next one.
Asics: Waste Time Well
What a campaign! Back in June 2022, we had the absolute pleasure of teaming up with ASICS and the incredible Michelle Visage to launch the 15:09 Challenge — a campaign all about encouraging people to move for their mental health.
And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good challenge?
The mission? Simple: 15 minutes and 9 seconds of movement is all it takes to get those feel-good endorphins flowing and uplift your mind. ASICS had done some research, and they discovered that Gen-Z was the most in need of a mental health boost but also the least likely to exercise because, well, they’re busy. Real busy. 102 minutes a day of scrolling busy…
So, we thought, why not make it as easy as possible for them to find time to move?
Enter: Michelle Visage. We knew that if anyone could motivate a generation to get up and move, it was Michelle. We didn’t stop there though. We made it a full-on social media movement. All you had to do was move for at least 15:09 minutes, capture it, and post it with #ASICS1509 on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. And with every post, ASICS donated to Mind, a charity supporting mental health.
The results?
- We raised a whopping £75,000 for Mind
- The campaign blew up, with 3 million impressions and 2.5 million video views.
- 168 pieces of media coverage across the UK and USA made sure the message reached as many people as possible.
We’re so proud of how this campaign turned out. It showed how something as simple as moving for just 15 minutes and 9 seconds could have a huge impact on mental health — and it brought people together for a good cause.
